Coherence’s founder, Kentaro Nakagomi, takes inspiration from the wardrobes of legendary artists, designers and historical personalities. For these highly researched models he goes to great lengths to find the perfect components, such as commissioning custom fabric for specific pieces. As one of the first places to stock Coherence in the world, we developed a longstanding relationship and several exclusive pieces.The Jackson Coverall Jacket is named for a similar workwear jacket worn by Jackson Pollack, the abstract expressionist painter.The Jackson Jacket is made from a linen-cotton herringbone fabric developed exclusively for Coherence, along with custom designed metal donut button closure. It features four pockets, two at the chest and two at the hips. One chest pocket is covered with a button flap while the opposite is split to hold a pen. Triple-needle stitching, a hallmark of classic workwear, can be found throughout.As with all Coherence garments it is made with a fine attention to detail with exceptional quality hardware.

For these highly researched models he goes to great lengths to find the perfect components, such as commissioning custom fabric for specific pieces.The Robert Field Jacket is named for French Photographer Robert Doisneau, inspired by a self-portrait of the artist made in 1949. This field jacket was modeled after a variety of vintage military jackets obtained and dissected by the Coherence team; most notably, the American M-43 Field Jacket.The Robert Jacket is made from an exclusive blend of wool, linen and mohair which gives the garment a three-dimensional texture, crease resistance and a subtle water repellency. This jacket has a covered button closure and throat tab. It features four pockets, two angled flap pockets at the chest and two larger ones at the hips. A drawstring at the waist can be used to cinch the waist and features an interior bag sewn into the back which the jacket can be folded into.As with all Coherence garments it is made with a fine attention to detail with exceptional quality hardware.

As one of the first places to stock Coherence in the world, we developed a longstanding relationship and several exclusive pieces.The Birks FLB Jacket is named for a field jacket worn by John Birks “Dizzy” Gillespie, the legendary jazz trumpeter and composer who is credited for introducing bebop to the masses.The Birks Jacket is made from a Kasuri cotton gabardine fabric designed exclusively for Coherence, along with a custom designed zip and single button closure with a leather-covered button. It features two gusset pockets at the hip and a large patch pocket at the chest. This model is lined in a soft wool jersey to keep you warm through the Fall and Winter.“Kasuri” is a traditional Japanese weaving technique in which dyed yarns are woven through a different colored fabric, resulting in a blurry or brushed look. With this jacket, Coherence has used the Kasuri method for their own take on ‘Rain Camo’. The characteristic blur of the Kasuri technique makes for a trompe l’oeil effect, where the rain drops almost look like they are in motion.Beyond its practicality for inclement weather, it is a superb field jacket for wearing both casually or over tailoring. The body is just long enough to cover jackets, and the waist is shaped with some elastic on the sides. It can easily be layered for winter, or worn on its own during transitional seasons.As with all Coherence garments it is made with a fine attention to detail with exceptional quality hardware.

The “Fou Fou” model is inspired by Japanese painter and printmaker Leonard Tsuguharu Foujita and features raglan sleeves, a large overlapping front with side-entry pockets, and an oversized collar. Made in their exclusive weather resistant lightweight cotton, it has an incredibly compact feel all while maintaining breathability and water repellency. As with all Coherence garments it is made with a fine attention to detail with exceptional quality hardware.
